Winter headquarters and range
The Bar T Bar covers about 326,200 acres of private, state, and Forest Service lands between Winslow and Happy Jack, Arizona. The northern portion of the ranch is bisected by Diablo Canyon, which forms the boundary with the Flying M Ranch, its partner in the Diablo Trust. The Bar T Bar’s primary headquarters is located in this northern, high-desert area, just 3 miles east of Meteor Crater (4½ miles south of I-40 off exit 233). The rest of the winter range is bounded by the Hopi Three Canyon Ranches and a buffalo ranch maintained by the Arizona Game and Fish Department. Average annual precipitation here ranges from 6–7 inches.
Summer headquarters and range
Our summer headquarters lies within the southern, higher-elevation portion of the Bar T Bar, near Hay Lake, north of Highway 87 and east of FH3, about 14 miles from Happy Jack. We hold a U.S. Forest Service grazing allotment in this area, as well as a private headquarters known as Hay Lake. Average annual precipitation in the region ranges from 12–18 inches.
